Tradition Energy Improves Procurement Results for PA-Based Healthcare Organization

Stamford, Connecticut, May 20, 2021 – Tradition Energy announces it has recently improved procurement results for a Pennsylvania-based healthcare organization that provides management and administrative support to its network of affiliated behavioral health care providers.

Tradition Energy evaluated the organization’s existing electricity agreements and procurement practices and identified several opportunities to lower costs, including:

  • Supplier Competition: The organization was receiving service and rates directly from only one energy supplier, so they were not being presented with competitive pricing offers from the marketplace.
  • Bill Processing & Payment: The organization’s 5 operating divisions were aggregated under one agreement, creating billing process and payment inefficiency and resulting in late payment fees.
  • Tax Avoidance: The organization is a 509(a)(3) nonprofit, which exempts them from paying certain taxes. However, since their facilities were aggregated under one legal entity name, 4 of the facilities did not qualify for tax exemptions.
  • Contract Negotiation: The organization opens and closes new facilities regularly. Their existing energy contract did not include meter add/delete flexibility, so they incurred penalties each time they sold a property.

“Our full-service energy risk management and procurement capabilities are one of the key reasons clients choose us as their trusted advisor,” said Alan Kurzer, CEO, Tradition Energy.  “I couldn’t be more proud of the results our entire team achieved for this significant client.”
