What is something interesting about you that not a lot of people know? “One of the most mentally and physically challenging things I’ve done was climb Mt. Kilimanjaro with colleagues. When I have thoughts that something is hard or difficult, I think back to that awesome trip and realize that anything is possible as long as you put your mind to it and just put one foot in front of the other and keep climbing.”

Meredith Irvine – Senior Energy Advisor

Meredith joined Tradition Energy in 2013 as an Associate after graduating from Boston College with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology.  Having interned with Tradition during her final semester at BC, she was offered a full-time position upon graduation.  Since then, Meredith’s hard work and drive to succeed helped her grow from trainee to one of the Tradition’s premier energy advisors. She now mentors and is a manager to new incoming Associates.   She is also the first woman in Tradition Energy history to reach the Champion’s Club.  Meredith works in our Burlington, MA location with a focus on Northeast Power, Natural Gas, and Renewable Energy clients.

Why did you decide to join Tradition Energy? After interning with Tradition during my senior year at Boston College, I had established excellent mentors who I knew would guide me through each stage of my career, from learning the fundamentals of energy markets to developing a client base. I work closely with these same mentors today, six years later, who coach me as I mentor our newest associates in the MA office.”

I enjoy working with a diverse client base ranging from cities and towns to hospitality investment firms, housing authorities and even amusement parks. While we add value to their energy procurement and management approach, we also learn about their day to day operations and unique company needs. No day or client is the same which keeps work both fast-paced and exciting.”

What do you think it takes to be successful at Tradition Energy? The most successful advisors never stop learning, whether it’s from colleagues, clients, or other industry resources. Energy is a dynamic field, and we are in a unique position to keep our clients proactive and informed.”

After research and speaking with current employees, I knew that Tradition was the place for me.”

What is your favorite part about being with Tradition Energy? I would say the people & work environment.  Everyone is very friendly and willing to lend a helping hand.  The environment is very welcoming and cultivates success.”

What do you think it takes to be successful at Tradition Energy? “It’s important to have a vision greater than yourself and to work hard.  Instead of what can this company do for me, I believe it should be how can I positively impact our customer’s experience and contribute to our organization’s goals. There is no substitute for hard work, and with hard work, you can achieve anything.”

What is something interesting about you that not a lot of people know In my spare time, I help businesses manage their social media strategies.”

Rich joined Tradition in 2014 and graduated from the University of Albany with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.  Rich started with Tradition Energy as a part of the Operations Group on the Client Services team, assisting our clients on a variety of post-contractual items.  Because of Rich’s work ethic, performance and collegial attitude, he was then selected to join the Pricing team.  He has been responsible for partnering with our 3rd party suppliers to identify the most cost-effective energy pricing for our commercial, industrial and governmental clients.  His relationship skills, charm, and passion for the energy industry have been instrumental to the satisfaction of our clients.

Why did you decide to join Tradition Energy? “In one of my college courses, we had a trading game, and while the focus of the game was to invest in equities I gravitated more towards trading gas futures.  After graduating, I decided I wanted to find a company that would help me expand upon my new energy-focused interest.  One day while watching CNBC, I saw a member of Tradition’s Research team being interviewed, and after listening to the information he provided I decided this is where I wanted to be.”

What is your favorite part about being with Tradition Energy? “I would say the people and the changing work environment.  Every day, I come in and learn something new, and the people on my team and other teams around me make it enjoyable to come in each day.”

What do you think it takes to be successful at Tradition Energy? “Organization and the ability to multitask are keys to success.  In this line of work, your tasks will change as fast or faster than the market moves.   While you do have your daily responsibilities, the energy industry is always evolving and paying attention to the news and regulations can help you to grow not only yourself but the teams around you.  If you invest in your work, do additional research, and share the information you have gathered you will succeed at this company.”

What is something interesting about you that not a lot of people know? “I am an avid skier. I like long walks on the beach, but only in the winter. And I am the funniest person in the office!”
