Stamford, Connecticut, March 13, 2024 – Tradition Energy proudly announces its recent success, advising many of Lubbock’s highest-profile energy users on their historic transition to energy deregulation.
The City of Lubbock and Texas Tech University are among a diverse mix of entities, including Lubbock County, University Medical Center, Lubbock Christian University, McDougal Companies, PYCO Industries, American Campus Communities, and numerous others who are now purchasing electricity and natural gas in the competitive marketplace.
Since March 2018, Lubbock Power & Light (LP&L), the local utility company serving the City of Lubbock, has been working to make infrastructure updates to connect with the ERCOT (Electric Reliability Council of Texas) system. LP&L successfully connected 70% of its system (approximately 83,000 customers) to the ERCOT grid, and the city council later confirmed the vote for deregulation in 2022. The interconnection with ERCOT is the first in Lubbock’s history and the first for any regulated municipality in the state in 25 years to move toward deregulation.
Tradition’s unmatched experience, market knowledge and expertise, and procurement leverage have enabled organizations across various sectors in Lubbock to seize the opportunities presented by deregulation and optimize their energy strategies for long-term success, from commercial real estate and manufacturing to healthcare, education, food & beverage, technology, and beyond.
“We are grateful for the trust placed in us by all the Lubbock-area organizations we have advised, and we look forward to assisting others as more firms embrace the opportunities presented by energy deregulation,” said Alan Kurzer, CEO of Tradition Energy.
