Stamford, Connecticut, November 15, 2023 – Tradition Energy, the nation’s largest independent energy procurement and sustainability solutions advisor, has successfully advised Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) on participating in the State of Illinois Community Solar program. The strategic purchase is projected to yield substantial savings of $1.5 million over the next decade, reinforcing SIUE’s commitment to sustainability and supporting Ameren Illinois’ renewable initiatives.
SIUE, recognizing the importance of comprehensive energy management, sought Tradition’s expertise to navigate the complexities of the Illinois Community Solar Program. Tradition’s thorough assessment of SIUE’s energy usage identified numerous accounts eligible for participation in the program, setting the stage for significant financial benefits.
SIUE, home to a student body of over 12,500, is situated on 2,660 acres of beautiful woodland a short drive from St. Louis.
Tradition collaborated diligently with its extensive network of community solar developers to pinpoint the perfect match for SIUE’s energy demands and contractual prerequisites, taking into account its status as a government entity.
The selected community solar developer, sourced by Tradition, is set to reduce Ameren’s greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 5,200 metric tons of carbon dioxide. This achievement comes through the acquisition of 7.69 MW of capacity across four projects within the Ameren utility territory. Annually, this capacity is expected to generate over 12,000,000 kWh of solar power, contributing significantly to SIUE’s sustainability objectives.
