Houston, TX – November 29, 2012 — Yesterday, Addison Armstrong, Sr. Director of Market Research, and Dan Montgomery, Jr., Sr, Director, both of Tradition Energy, participated on a panel at the 6th Annual Texas Energy Professionals Association (TEPA) Conference themed – Competitive Energy Markets: Applying Texas-sized Experience at the National Level. The event took place at the Omni Hotel.
TEPA is an organization that establishes a standardized code of conduct, serves as an educational resource and advocates legislative initiatives for the Texas deregulated energy market. TEPA members, including Tradition Energy, exhibit expertise, ethical practices and a high level of professionalism to help consumers buy electricity in the restructured Texas marketplace.
Armstrong and Montgomery joined a panel of thought leaders representing energy suppliers, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, and ERCOT (Electricity Reliability Council of Texas), in discussing a variety of issues related to the adequacy of future generation resources for the ERCOT market. “Regardless of whether we end up with a capacity or ‘energy only’ market, end users are going to be paying for it anyway,” commented Armstrong. When asked whether Demand Response programs (programs that ensure ERCOT grid reliability during periods of higher than expected demand) were simply softening peak usage periods, Montgomery said, “DR programs are great financial tools for end-users, but they may be just a band aid for a larger capacity problem.”
