The opportunity

A multi-site healthcare provider sought greater control over energy renewals after a previous procurement error resulted in significant cost increases.

The organization had been working with a smaller energy advisor to manage supply contracts across its portfolio. During a previous renewal, however, one facility was inadvertently omitted from the procurement process, leaving the location exposed to significantly higher energy costs.

With numerous healthcare facilities requiring reliable contract management, the organization needed a more structured approach that could reduce administrative risk, improve visibility into upcoming expirations, and ensure every eligible account was incorporated into future procurement decisions.

Analysis

Tradition reviewed the organization’s existing energy agreements and identified multiple contracts with different expiration dates across the portfolio. The fragmented structure created additional administrative complexity and increased the risk of facilities being overlooked during future renewals.

Tradition mapped existing agreements and expiration dates across the portfolio to provide greater visibility into upcoming procurement requirements and identify opportunities for consolidation.

Rather than continuing to manage numerous agreements independently, Tradition identified an opportunity to bring eligible facilities under a consolidated supply agreement. This would simplify future procurement while creating a more coordinated portfolio-wide strategy.

Tradition’s systems provided additional controls around account enrollment and contract management, helping ensure facilities were properly tracked throughout the procurement process. Ongoing market monitoring added another layer of oversight by allowing future purchasing decisions to be evaluated proactively.
