Tradition Energy Builds on Regional Growth Across Upstate New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio

Growing client demand drives investment in regional resources and a new Rochester office led by industry veteran Tom Murray

STAMFORD, Conn. — October 1, 2026 — Tradition Energy, the nation’s #1-ranked energy advisor*, today announced the continued expansion of its business across Upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, building on more than two decades of client activity and continued growth throughout the region

As part of that expansion, Tradition is opening a new office in Rochester, New York, led by Tom Murray, a Rochester-based entrepreneur with more than 15 years of experience in energy efficiency, infrastructure, and sustainability. Murray will focus on expanding existing client relationships, developing new business, and strengthening Tradition’s regional presence.

Murray founded Rochester-based energy solutions firm Lumalon in 2012 and has worked with hundreds of organizations throughout the region. Lumalon was named Trade Ally of the Year by NYSEG and RG&E, recognizing the company’s performance and long-standing involvement in the Upstate New York energy market.

“We’re seeing strong demand and growing opportunity across these markets, and this investment allows us to build on that momentum,” said Alan Kurzer, CEO of Tradition Energy. “Tom brings deep regional relationships, entrepreneurial experience, and local market knowledge. Combined with Tradition’s national scale, market intelligence and procurement leverage, we believe this creates a differentiated platform for continued growth.”

The Rochester office will serve as a local hub connected directly to Tradition’s national platform. Clients will have access to dedicated specialists across market research, pricing and procurement, risk management, sustainability, data analytics, account management and contract negotiation—combining regional expertise with resources built to support energy programs of virtually any size or complexity.

“What attracted me to Tradition was not simply the scale of the organization, but how that scale is put to work for the client,” said Murray. “We can bring clients a more informed, competitive, and proactive approach to energy—helping them make better decisions, respond to market opportunities, and manage risk over time. It allows me to build on the relationships I’ve established throughout this region while delivering a level of capability that goes well beyond a single transaction.”
